This video lesson is designed for 6-12-year-old children and introduces them to the concept of sorting and grouping similar objects
Classifying and sorting activity helps in identifying things that are the same, or alike, and grouping them by specific traits or attributes. For example, a bunch of animals can be grouped based on their color or type of animal.
The activity encourages the child to collect different objects from around the house for example toys, leaves, animals, etc, and guides them to sort and group similar objects together in a group of 2, 3 or 4.
This activity enables the child to classify and sort objects by similar traits and increase their short-term memory. It allows them to connect the pictures with words and develop order, concentration, and visual-motor skills.
Invite the child to repeat this activity. Help them collect some objects from around the house and ask them to group and sort based on their traits as shown in the video. Such activities help in building child’s confidence and improve their working memory.
