Area of a Rectangle

This video helps to find the area of a rectangle. The lesson is designed for children at the elementary level for 6-12 years of age.

We can also calculate the area of the rectangle using squares. Want to know how? Watch this video

We recommend that your child explore this practical method to find the area of a rectangle for easy understanding.

What is the Area of a Rectangle?

The area of a rectangle is defined as the area (total region) that is enclosed by the four sides of a rectangle. It is equal to the product of the length and height of a rectangle, i.e. A = l * h. Hence, to find the area of a rectangle, we need to know the length (l) and height (h) of it. The unit of area is measured in square units.

How to Calculate Area of Rectangle?

Let us learn how to calculate the area of a rectangle with the below example:

Area of a rectangle = l * h (length * height)

Let the length of a rectangle be: 20 meters and the height be: 10 meters

Then, the area of the rectangle will be l * h

=20 * 10

=200 square meters
